Have an easy to construct raised bed that will last for years - try using concrete blocks.
 
Make those concrete blocks useful in building a raised bed for your garden.  Plant some flowers in the holes in the blocks.
 
A good way to raise herbs, strawberries, or other shallow rooted vegetables and flowers - a pallet garden.
 
Use a pallet for a raised garden and get off your knees!
 
You can use a pot placed on your railing to raise lettuce, radishes and spinach.  Quick and easy!
 
Have a barrel of fun!  Use that barrel, cut in half, to make a raised bed.  It will get you off your knees!
